Ziptrek Ecotours has raised over $5,000 for local charity Sustainable Queenstown, whose key initiatives centre around reducing waste, connecting people and celebrating the town's sustainable mahi.
The adventure ecotourism business raised funds at its annual Locals’ Day on Sunday 10 Nov. Locals' had the chance to zip through the trees, take part in a kiwi-bird inspired scavenger hunt and listen to a DJ playing from the rooftops. This year Ziptrek also offered guests the chance to zip Line 6 for a koha (donation).
Southern Lakes and Central Otago residents were given the chance to experience the eco-exhilarating fun of ziplining high above Queenstown at a significantly reduced rate with 50% of ticket sales donated to Sustainable Queenstown.
Jess Larmont, Executive Officer at Sustainable Queenstown says,"We were blown away by the generous donation from Ziptrek's Locals Day! It comes at a really crucial time for us after losing our key sponsor earlier this year, and means we can continue our work to reduce waste and connect our Queenstown locals with more sustainable choices. Thank you, Ziptrek, for creating an event that champions local charities and gets the community out and having fun - you rock!"
Ziptrek Ecotours Site Director, Mike Higson commented, "Our Locals' Day is a chance for the community to come together, have fun and zip, all whilst raising money for a local charity. We're thrilled we could support Sustainable Queenstown this year as they have some awesome sustainable initiatives that have a positive impact on our community. We are looking forward to hearing where the team allocates these funds. Thanks to everyone that came and zipped!"
