At Ziptrek we consistently audit our supply chain and prioritise suppliers that are ethical, sustainable and local – from our staff uniforms to office supplies along with retail items.

We are really excited to announce we have recently partnered with Fjällräven outdoor clothing based on their deep commitment to durable and non-toxic outdoor clothing. This is a massive commitment as we aim to repair and reuse as many of our uniforms as we can.

Sustainability is at the core of what we do at Ziptrek Ecotours. We educate guests around sustainability whilst facilitating an engaging activity in a beautiful environment. We strongly push our sustainable and regenerative ethos to our stakeholders; our staff, customers, and local community. So, it only makes sense to partner with suppliers who are working towards the same goals as us.

Fjällräven are committed to environmental and ethical practices. Their Code of Conduct covers human rights, animal welfare, environmental protections, sustainable development and anti-corruption, and it is non-negotiable…

Everything we do has an impact on the environment around us and the people and animals that inhabit it. As an outdoor company, we’re acutely aware of this impact and we do our utmost to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible.

In parallel the products we develop are built to last for decades of use, to then be passed on to the next generation or be sold on the second hand market. That way, fewer products will be produced, less energy will be consumed and less products will end up as waste.

Bernie Shore, New Zealand Country Manager at Fjällräven Queenstown says…

“Fjällräven is proud to partner with Ziptrek Ecotours, bringing together our shared passion for sustainability and outdoor adventure in the heart of Queenstown. As part of this collaboration, we’ve equipped the Ziptrek team with our outdoor apparel, ensuring they’re prepared for all conditions as they guide visitors through Queenstown's stunning landscapes. This partnership underscores our mutual commitment to environmental stewardship and inspiring a deeper connection to nature through eco-friendly practices and unforgettable experiences. We're excited to empower people towards exploring and preserving the beauty of Queenstown together.”

Ziptrek Executive Director Trent Yeo comments on the partnership…

"We love Fjallraven as they simply create good gear for the outdoors, for both you and te taiao. On tour we talk about the challenges of bioaccumulation and having flourocarbon (PFC) free gear is part of our choice in managing responsible supply chains. We love working with a new local outlet to help us gear up, whilst 'wearing our heart on our sleeve'."

Course Manager at Ziptrek, Emelie Eriksson, says…

"I'm stoked that we, at Ziptrek Queenstown, have gone into partnership with Fjällräven for some of our uniform needs. When they were opening up their flagship store, here in Queenstown, it was an obvious choice to discuss a partnership. We have very clearly aligned sustainability ambitions and love what they are managing to achieve in this arena, plus they have sweet gear! The added bonus for me as a now Kiwi who originates from Sweden is that it is a little bit of home spliced into my work day and I can ensure the team pronounces the name correctly!"

At Ziptrek we’re committed to becoming leaders in this field and encouraging our peers to follow suit, so please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more.

We’re super excited to be partnering with the team at Fjällräven and are looking forward to what’s next!
